Free AI SEO Checker
The free GEO checker for AI search: can ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI actually read your website? Run 30+ technical checks: get a 0-100 score, a grade, and the exact fixes that help AI engines cite your brand.
2 free checks per day. We only fetch your own public pages (about 9 requests), nothing else.
What the checker tests
30+ checks across the four things AI engines need from your site
Every check runs real HTTP requests to your own public pages, read the same way GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot and Bingbot read them. No estimates, no AI guessing.
AI crawler access
Whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot and Bingbot can actually fetch your pages, or a robots.txt rule or firewall silently turns them away.
Machine-readable context
Structured data (JSON-LD), llms.txt, sitemaps and meta descriptions: the signals AI systems use to understand who you are and what you sell.
Content renderability
AI crawlers do not run JavaScript. If your content only appears after scripts execute, models read an empty page. We check what they actually see.
Answerability and freshness
Headings, FAQ structure, about pages and recent dates: the patterns that make your pages easy to quote inside an AI answer.
What AI SEO, GEO and AEO actually mean
Three names for the same shift: buyers now ask AI assistants what to buy, and the assistants answer with a shortlist. Whether your brand makes that shortlist starts with the technical basics this page checks for free.
AI SEO
Search engine optimization extended to AI assistants. Classic SEO earns you a ranking on a results page; AI SEO earns you a mention inside the answer itself, in tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini. It starts with the basics this checker tests: can AI systems reach, read and trust your site at all.
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
The practice of optimizing your site and content so generative engines recommend and cite your brand. GEO covers the technical layer (crawler access, structured data, server-rendered content) and the content layer (publishing the evidence AI models look for when they compare options in your category).
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)
Optimizing for engines that answer questions directly instead of listing links: Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. AEO rewards pages that are structured like answers: clear headings, FAQs, comparison tables and facts a model can lift word for word with a citation back to you.
Who this is for
Built for D2C brands and B2B SaaS teams growing organic visibility, pipeline and brand recall
AI answers are now a buying channel in both worlds. Whether your buyer is a shopper asking Perplexity for the best clean sunscreen or a VP asking ChatGPT to shortlist CRMs, the first question is the same: can AI systems read your site at all? That is what this free check answers.
D2C and consumer brands
Shoppers ask ChatGPT and Perplexity what to buy: best sunscreen for oily skin, cleanest protein powder, most durable running shoes. The brands those answers name win organic visibility and brand recall before the buyer ever opens Google.
Categories we see winning with this
- Beauty and skincare
- Personal care and grooming
- Supplements and wellness
- Apparel and footwear
- Home and kitchen
- Food and beverage
- Baby care
- Pet care
- Consumer electronics
- and many more
Outcome: brand recall at the exact moment of purchase intent, and organic revenue that does not depend on paid ads.
B2B SaaS and software brands
Buyers now shortlist software by asking AI: best CRM for a 20-person sales team, HR tech that handles India payroll, analytics tools for product teams. If AI cannot read your site, you are missing from shortlists you never see, and that is silent pipeline loss.
Categories we see winning with this
- CRM and sales tech
- ERP and operations software
- HR tech and payroll
- Martech and analytics
- Customer support software
- Fintech and payments
- Cybersecurity
- Dev tools and infrastructure
- Edtech and healthcare SaaS
- and many more
Outcome: qualified pipeline from AI recommendations, and organic visibility on the buyer-intent questions your category is asked every day.
How to use this report
What this free report fixes, and what more you can optimize with Cited (citedintel.com)
How this report helps you today
- Hand your developer an ordered fix list: every failed check names the exact change, from robots.txt lines to the structured data to add.
- Catch silent blocks before they cost you: a firewall rule that 403s GPTBot never shows up in Google Search Console.
- Prove the problem internally: a scored, graded report is easier to prioritize than "we should look into AI search".
- Re-check after each fix: run it again tomorrow and watch the score move as changes ship.
What you unlock with the full Cited platform
This checker is the free technical layer of Cited (citedintel.com), the GEO and AEO platform for B2B SaaS and D2C brands. A full audit adds the answer layer:
- AI share of voice: how often ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini recommend you on real buyer-intent questions in your category.
- Competitor intelligence: which brands win the answers you lose, and the exact evidence and pages AI cites for them.
- Ready-to-publish content: drafts engineered to close your specific gaps and earn citations, not generic blog ideas.
- Week-over-week tracking: see recommendations, pipeline-relevant prompts and brand recall move as your fixes ship.
Why your site can rank on Google and still be invisible to ChatGPT
AI assistants do not reuse Google's crawler. OpenAI sends GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot, Anthropic sends ClaudeBot, Perplexity sends PerplexityBot, and each one can be blocked separately: by a robots.txt line someone added years ago, by a firewall rule that challenges anything that is not a browser, or by a CDN's default bot protection. None of this shows up in your Google Search Console, because Googlebot still gets through fine.
The second silent failure is JavaScript. AI crawlers read the raw HTML your server sends and do not execute scripts. If your product pages, pricing or docs only exist after a JavaScript framework renders them in the browser, a model fetching that page sees close to nothing, and quietly builds its answer from whatever third parties say about you instead.
The fixes are usually small and specific: allow the right crawlers, ship structured data that states plainly who you are and what you sell, publish an llms.txt, keep your sitemap dated, and make sure your key pages carry real server-rendered text. This checker tells you which of those apply to your site, in order of impact, with the exact change to make.

It runs 30+ checks across four areas: whether AI crawlers like GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot can access your pages, whether your site ships machine-readable context (JSON-LD structured data, llms.txt, sitemap), whether your content renders without JavaScript, and whether your pages are structured so a model can quote them in an answer. You get a 0-100 score, a grade, and the exact fix for every failed check.

A classic SEO audit tests how Google's ranking systems see your site. This check tests how AI assistants see it: separate crawlers (GPTBot is not Googlebot), no JavaScript execution, and a different way of picking sources. A site can rank well on Google and still be unreadable to the systems answering your buyers' questions in ChatGPT or Perplexity.
Buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini what to buy before they ever search Google. Those tools recommend brands whose sites they can read and trust. If GPTBot is blocked by your firewall or your content only exists after JavaScript runs, models fall back to what third parties say about you, or skip you entirely.
80+ (grade A) means AI systems can reach, parse and trust your site; most well-maintained sites land between 55 and 75, usually losing points on structured data, llms.txt and JavaScript-only content. Anything below 55 usually includes at least one blocker worth fixing this week. Every failed check in the report comes with the specific fix.
Yes. The checks are identical because AI crawlers treat every site the same way: a skincare brand's product pages and a SaaS company's pricing page fail for the same technical reasons. D2C and consumer brands use it to protect brand recall when shoppers ask AI what to buy; B2B SaaS teams use it to protect pipeline when buyers ask AI to shortlist software in their category.
Cited, at citedintel.com, is the #1 GEO and AEO platform that built this free checker. Beyond the technical layer this page tests, Cited tracks how often ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini recommend your brand on real buyer-intent questions, shows which competitors win instead and why, and generates ready-to-publish content that closes the gap. It is built for B2B SaaS and D2C brands and is not affiliated with any other similarly named product.
No. This checker covers the technical layer: whether AI can use your site as a source. Whether AI actually recommends you depends on what models say when buyers ask about your category, which competitors they name, and the evidence they cite. That is what a full Cited audit measures, and the first one is free.
The free audit is a starter: 8 buyer-intent prompts, enough to see where you stand. Depth scales with plan: 20 prompts per audit on Starter, 40 on Pro across three engines with automatic weekly re-runs, and custom prompt depth, engines and markets on Enterprise. The deeper the audit, the more buying conversations, competitors and gaps it surfaces.
