5 min readCompetitive Tracking, Snapshots and Alerts
Your share of voice can fall without you doing anything wrong: a competitor publishes, an engine re-weighs its sources, a new brand enters the answers. Cited's competitive layer is built to surface those events the week they happen and to brief you on any company on demand.
The Watch tab
Watch tracks week-over-week movement across your category: who rose, who fell, on which prompts, on which engines. With weekly auto-audits enabled (Starter and above), the timeline builds itself without anyone remembering to run checks.
The useful habit is a five-minute weekly review: scan the movement, open anything that moved more than a little, and read the answers behind it. Movement plus the stored answers usually tells you the cause directly, a new page ranking, a review site shift, a competitor's launch.
Competitive Pulse and threat alerts
On Pro and above, Cited flags competitive events without waiting for your review: a rival overtaking you on prompts you used to win, a new brand entering your category's answers, or a notable endorsement shift. Alerts arrive by email, and on Slack for Pro workspaces.
Alerts are deliberately conservative: they fire on events worth interrupting your week for, not on routine wobble.
Competitive Snapshots
A Snapshot is an on-demand brief on any company: how AI engines position it, what they praise, what caveats they attach, and who they recommend instead. Sales teams pull Snapshots mid-deal when a prospect mentions a rival; marketing teams use them to prep launches and battlecards.
Pro and Agency Pro include 120 Snapshots per month. Each Snapshot has a shareable link, so a brief can go straight into a deal thread.
Field note
The highest-leverage Snapshot is the one pulled on a company that just entered your answers, before your sales team has ever heard the name. New entrants win on a narrow evidence wedge, and the Snapshot shows you the wedge while it is still narrow.
Reports for the business
The Reporting agent produces executive-ready output: AI share of voice, sentiment and endorsement strength, plus the trend since your last fixes shipped. Pro includes the Business Impact Report on your cadence; Agency Pro adds per-client Executive Brand Reports. Reports exist so the person running Cited never has to hand-build the case that the work is moving numbers.
